About Janna Lingenfelder
Growth. Clarity. Negotiation mastery
Negotiation trainer and strategist
I equip STEM professionals with what no tool can deliver: the ability to negotiate powerfully and confidently when it matters most.
From Science and Technology to the Negotiation Table
These three worlds — science, technology, and business — have shaped the way I approach negotiation: understanding complex systems, recognizing patterns, and turning them into clear strategies.
For several years, I represented IBM in international standardization bodies, advocating German interests in the development of technological standards, specifications, and governance frameworks at a global level. Later, at ZEISS, I led the development of the company-wide interoperability strategy in the medical technology business — working across divisions, in strategic partnerships, and in complex multi-stakeholder negotiations.
The importance of a strategic approach and thoughtful negotiation became clear to me early in childhood — back then still in the Soviet Union — when I listened to my parents’ conversations at the dinner table.
Later in my career and personal life across three countries, I came to understand deeply that progress, whether personal, professional, or societal, depends fundamentally on effective and strategically prepared negotiation. This insight grew from formative experiences: challenging periods of emigration and immigration, raising my children, my work as a software engineer, and the development of professional negotiation expertise, including strategic discussions on the international stage and leadership responsibilities with global impact.
Often, you don’t even need a negotiation table: negotiation is everywhere — every day, in big moments and small ones. Whether you are aligning a new strategy with the executive board, defining project requirements with a client, sharing resources with a colleague, negotiating a starting salary, choosing your company’s location with a business partner, or planning your next holiday with your spouse — you are negotiating.
Today, this experience shapes my work as a trainer, consultant, and speaker in negotiation. Along the way, the APEX® Negotiation Map emerged — a framework I developed that brings together analytical clarity, psychological depth, and practical application.

What drives me is the conviction that successful negotiation is built on clarity, responsibility, a strong inner stance, and a deliberate strategic approach, and that complex situations can be shaped with analytical rigor and personal strength.

What Defines My Work
Mindset Meets Method
My work combines analytical precision with human depth. I see negotiation as the conscious alignment of thinking, intention, presence, and the way we shape relationships.
From Analysis to Meaningful Impact
Game theory, negotiation psychology and rigorous analytical thinking come together with personal reflection and realistic negotiation simulations. Personal growth and lasting results are the goal — not a collection of standard tricks.
Academic Depth and Multiple Perspectives
Three university degrees across three countries and three working languages — for a broad intercultural perspective on negotiation.
Language for STEM Thinkers
I work with analytically minded leaders — people who are not focused on selling, but on understanding and intentionally shaping power dynamics, relationships, decision processes, and the conditions that drive results.
APEX® Negotiation Map
With the APEX® Negotiation Map , I combine the art and science of negotiation — research-based, methodically structured, and designed for complete 360-degree clarity and impact.
Global Negotiation Experience
Several years of international experience at the highest level in the technology sector: negotiating in multilateral standardization bodies for information and communication technologies, with a focus on technical specifications, consensus-building processes, and shaping and representing German strategic positions.
Leadership Experience
National and international leadership experience — with both direct people management responsibility and cross-functional leadership of global teams, from technology negotiations to strategic alliances.
Proven Negotiation Experience as a Woman in Leadership
I understand the specific challenges women face in negotiation — not only from research, but from lived experience and years of training practice. I know which strategies and mindsets enable women to negotiate with excellence, act with confidence, and achieve — and exceed — their goals.
From Insight to Action
What we develop together does not remain abstract — it translates directly into your projects, teams, daily work, and international negotiations, creating results you can feel.
Personal contact
